Sergeant MacKenzie

Now available in Paperback and Kindle

November 1997, when the Wallace Clan returned from filming Braveheart, we decided to concentrate on our traditional music. On armistice night at band practise, one of the band drummers Joe Kilna, read out a poem to us that he had written about his grandfather who was killed during the First World War.   I picked up my bagpipes played a melody to accompany the words… the world-famous tune Sergeant Mackenzie was born.

July 2000, I received a phone call from Mel Gibson and Randall Wallace,   they were sitting in a vehicle lay-by on the Ventura highway California, they were both very solemn and wanted to use the tune Sergeant Mackenzie as the central soundtrack to a war movie they were producing called “Once We Were Soldiers” written by Lt. General Harold G Moore and J. L. Galloway, focussing on the role of the 7th Cavalry in the battle of La Drang valley Vietnam, the first major battle in the Vietnam war.  This narrative is a dramatised account of real characters and actual events that inspired the famous Lament.

Sergeant Mackenzie

The Great War saw many ordinary men and women do extraordinary things. This story features the valour and heroism performed by a group of just such men and women.  Sergeant Charles Stuart Mackenzie, Seaforth Highlanders.  Floyd Gibbons and American War Correspondent.  Marthe Cnockaert a Belgian nurse who had a daring dual life. Martin Kohler, a young German soldier who offers kindness to an enemy in the midst of Carnage and madness.

The actions of these people and many more will move you, inspire you and help you remember all they and millions more sacrificed for our freedom. This is a book about people caught up in a conflict they didn't understand, but who held on to their humanity in the darkest of times...

"WALLACE The Legend of Braveheart" Epic series of novels by Seoras Wallace

Little has survived or is known academically about William Wallace, Scotland’s greatest patriot and arguably most famous Scot. Many books have been written about the exploits of Wallace though very little actual “Proof” exists. There is one source that has never been examined nor been publicly accessible before now and that is the personal family legend and account of William Wallace passed faithfully and unbroken down the bloodline family in since 1300

The legend of William Wallace is now being passed to this generation from the Wallace family Seanachaidh (Family Historian and Storyteller) Seoras Wallace. For the first time in seven hundred years, this vitally important segment of cultural history will be written in a series of fictional novels for those who have an interest in the Wallace `Legend' giving a whole new and unique insight and thought-provoking account, never before available to anyone outside the family

This compelling and intimate family legend offers a radically different account from all others who have attempted to guess the thread-lines to this often tragic but inspirational human story. A story not just of William Wallace, but also many other families groups and individuals who’s fame, valour or infamy have been lost in the mists of time, including tales of his tragic loves, Affric ua Bruin the Ceardannan woodland princess. Maid Marion Braidfuite, Bernice of Navarre and his family, all murdered by the English who sought to destroy the family Wallace. As his influence grew It also tells of his brother bond with Andrew de Moray, Stephen ua MacH'Alpine and his volatile relationship with Robert de Bruce, future King of Scots

The legend begins in 1286 with the assassination of King (Glorious) Alexander Canmore  III. Wallace as a youth, witnesses Scotland’s disintegration into a vicious civil war then invasion by a foreign English army who enforce harsh laws and brutal punishments, completely at odds with his beliefs in the ancient Brethaihm laws of his forefathers.

Duplicitous nobles and International Political and religious intrigue propel Wallace from the innocence of youth to outlaw, Brigand chief, Anti-hero, Patriot, Guardian, Fugitive, Corsair,  Statesman and how Wallace thwarted the “Great Cause” of Edward Plantagenet “Longshanks” Magnate supreme of the Northern Brotherhood of Kings, who’s plan to destroy the Catholic faith of Pope Boniface VIII and create a new Christian empire from Scotland to Constantinople and everything North of the Pyrenees.

The legend tells of the determination of Wallace and his followers living in a peripheral realm on the edge of Europe and how they fought and died inspiring Robert the Bruce to continue the struggle for freedom
